Hey everyone! I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Krista of Covering the Bases, posted a fun blog post all about wedding assumptions people have had about her wedding. After searching Instagram for #weddingassumptions, lots of people are sharing the funny assumptions people have had about their weddings! So I’m sharing some about our wedding in the fall!

assumptions and wedding spoilers

You’re getting married in Dallas. Yes! We’re getting married at the Warwick Melrose Hotel! Its an old 1920s apartment building that was turned into a hotel. It has all the classic charm I’ve always wanted but just friendly enough to make us feel at home.

Your parents paid for the whole thing. No. They were gracious enough to pay for my wedding dress! But David and I wanted to pay for the wedding ourselves and we’re so proud of how hard we’ve worked to have our dream wedding!

You have your reception menu all planned out. Nope! Not even close! We have an idea of what we’d like to serve but we still have to have our menu tasting! Hint: anything with cheese is fair game!

You’re dieting for the wedding. Yep! I’ve lost 10 lbs since the beginning of the year but when you don’t have much to lose in the first place, weight loss is kind of hard! I’m hitting the calorie counting hard in the coming months!

You’re having a bachelorette party. Yes! My best friend and Maid of Honor is hosting it in Denver this August! I’m so excited!

Your taking a honeymoon after the wedding. Yep! David and I are getting married on a Saturday and are flying out early Monday morning to a gorgeous island, which I will announce later!

You have a small wedding party. Nope! David has 8 guys on his side and I have 8 gals on my side. So 16 people! It’s a lot.

You’re having a big wedding. No. David and I are both from other places so most of our guest list is from outside Dallas. We don’t expect more than about 85 people at our wedding and we’re totally ok with that!

Your wedding color is obviously pink. Nope! Pink didn’t make it into the color palette even though its my favorite color! Navy blue is our main color.

You’re not doing a first look. Correct! We wanted the first moment of seeing each other to be when I walk down the aisle. I can’t wait!

Your dad is walking you down the aisle. Yes! I joked with my dad that he should wear his dress blues from the Navy and he said “I highly doubt those fit anymore.” That was the end of that. He’s wearing a tux instead!

You’re writing your own vows. Yes! I was kind of nervous about it but David really wanted to so we are!

Leave me a comment with any assumptions you have or someone else had for your own wedding!
