Hey everyone! As fall approaches, I’ve been adding more and more little cozy touches throughout my home to create that “autumn” feel I love so much. Is it premature to do this since its 100 degrees out still? You betcha. But I love making a house feel like a home and there’s nothing “homier” to me than coziness.
One important way I’m adding my personal cozy touch to my living room is by incorporating David and I’s love story. How cheesy right? Wrong! Its adorable! I don’t like having a ton of photos around the house of us, so when I got this star map from Modern Map Art of the night sky the night we met, I was really excited.
David and I met in Fairfax, VA on April 15, 2015. We were able to incorporate this special day into our home with a map of how the stars looked that night in Fairfax. When the map came in the mail, I ran to Michael’s to get a frame for it before hanging it in our living room. Paired with the warmth of our leather couch, a flannel throw, and some pillows and a cup of morning coffee- the map makes it feel just like home! And home is where the heart is.
Eventually when I have more wall space and a landlord who doesn’t mind holes in the wall, I’ll probably add some black and white photos of us to go around the map! I love black and white photos in a thin gold or silver frame. It’s elegant but still personal.
If you’re looking for a good wedding or anniversary gift for someone (or yourself!) then a custom map print would be a great gift! It adds a lot of personality to any space without being over the top.

Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I last blogged but turns out switching a WordPress blog from being self hosted on BlueHost back to WordPress hosting can be a total nightmare! I’m honestly still not sure if everything went ok or if my blog will disappear tomorrow. We’ll find out!
So when David and I moved into our current rental home, we realized we didn’t have near enough lighting to keep the place from being a cave at night. In our old apartment, we had ceiling fans and recessed lighting. Our current place was built in the 60’s and the light fixtures on the ceiling reflect that era. So I went searching for lights that would be incredibly bright but still look nice in my home. When Brightech reached out to me, I was excited to find that their lights were not only LED and energy efficient, but also gorgeous!!
Style Meets Function
Brightech offered to send me their Jaxon LED Floor Light and when it arrived I totally fell in love! It’s minimalist but not cold and boring. The antique brass color of the tripod legs goes so well with the rest of my bedroom!
When I was putting together my room, I wanted it to reflect my love of beautiful metals used in furniture like brass and gold. I’m not a big fan of large pieces of furniture, they make a room feel smaller in my opinion. I’ll never choose a big wooden dresser or chest unless its a family heirloom. The Jaxon lamp matched the brass buttons on my headboard and the frames above my bed beautifully.
I chose the coral quilt because it was nice contrast to the darker brass and gold colors, plus it was on sale! I couldn’t pass that up. The pillowcases I thought were just a fun pop of pattern to add a little character to my bedding although I’ll probably change them out for something more neutral. My cat Petunia is definitely a fan of this cozy space and loves every second of her day spent napping here! Her fur sister Hayley usually interrupts right around 6pm to remind her its time for noms and snuggles with David and I.
Anyway, definitely check out Brightech’s collection of light fixtures– they have one that has built in shelves I’ve been eyeing!

Hey everyone! I can’t believe summer is almost over! I walked into Target the other day and instead of pool floats, there were aisles of backpacks for sale. Like come on! Give me 5 more minutes to enjoy summer please. I think the only time I was ever excited to go back to school was when I was in college. Living on campus was so much fun for me and getting to stock my dorm room with cute necessities was even better! I was browsing Amazon (Prime member anyone?!) the other day and thought I’d share my must haves with my college-aged readers!
Multifunction Breakfast Center | Pink Tool Kit | Beats by Dre | Jewelry and Makeup Organizer | Relaxation Desk Sandbox | Cute Desk Lamp | I Woke Up Like This Mug | Yoga Mat | Tweed Throw Blanket | Flamingo Light | Penguin Mug
Ok so let’s talk about that desk sandbox! I had a friend who had one in her dorm room and whenever I was hanging out with her, I’d be messing with the sand and it would totally relax me. I definitely recommend getting one of these and keeping it in your dorm room!
Also, ladies- you need a toolbox! Nothing too crazy, but something that will help you fix little things here and there. They have cute ones too like the pink one above!

Hey everyone! I hope your week is going well and you have plans for the upcoming weekend! David and I are going to look at a few wedding venues and I’m so excited! I also recently bought a giant inflatable flamingo pool for my backyard so I’ll be lounging in that on Saturday!
Since Amazon Prime Week is less than a month away, I’ve been browsing their website writing down all the things I want that might be on sale. So far, everything has been pineapple themed! During the 1700s, pineapples were actually a sign of wealth and power as not everyone could afford the exotic fruit. It was also a sign of hospitality to a wealthy person’s guests. Luckily, everyone gets to enjoy this delicious fruit now and its emerged as a sign of summertime.
I’ll be the first to admit that I have a pineapple pool float, tank top, ice cube tray, and more hiding in my house. I rounded up a few of my favorite pineapple-themed items from Amazon Prime and included the links below (just to let you know, they are affiliate links, so I may make a small commission if you purchase something). Enjoy!

Pineapple Phone Holder
Pineapple Inflatable Cooler
Hey everyone! Some of you may or may not know, but David and I have been in the process of moving to a new place! It’s still in Dallas, just a little bit outside of the city near White Rock Lake. Our apartment was just getting too small for us but we still aren’t ready to buy a home, so we found a cute duplex to rent for another year or so!
It’s an older home built in the 1960s and I can’t get over how well its been cared for and all the retro vibes! I’ll be showing you photos of the whole house later, however take a look at my new bathroom! My ten year old self is over the moon with this very pink bathroom but my adult self is a little shocked by it. When we signed the lease I kept thinking “how am I going to make this color work?” Then my coworker suggested I embrace the very pink tile and go for a vintage Miami look! And that’s what I’m doing!
If you scroll through the widget above, you’ll kind of get a feel for the look I’m going for. I already bought the adorable Lauren Conrad “Wing It” bath rug because I couldn’t resist! The banana leaf shower curtain is going to be hard to find for under $100. Who knew shower curtains could get so pricey!? I’m also searching high and low for some cute, cheap artwork of Miami. I’d love to find some old New Yorker magazine or Vogue covers to frame for the wall.
I’m really excited to start redesigning this space! At first, I was so overwhelmed by it but now I’m absolutely in love with it! Comment with any design ideas you have, I’d love to hear them!
