Special announcement! It’s my birthday! I’m 22 and will be singing the Taylor Swift song all day long! I keep asking myself how I’m in my 20s and then I realize that getting older means time goes by quicker. I know that this time in my life is special and I need to cherish it, which I am. Being young, single, and starting my career is a whirlwind of new experiences.
Speaking of careers, I have exciting news! As of last week, I have officially accepted a position as a Marketing Analyst for a nonprofit in northern Virginia! This is the best birthday present I could have ever gotten. After going through the ups and downs of job hunting, I understand how blessed I am to be employed by a great organization. Although it’s only a contracted job until November, I know this will add a lot of great experience to my resume for future career moves.
As far as birthday festivities go, I really have nothing planned today. Partly because I’m fighting off a kidney infection and partly because, well, birthdays aren’t as exciting and meaningful as they were when we were kids. We don’t get our friends together to just have cake and ice cream and to play a few games. Now, we get everyone together for a dinner party which is inevitably more complicated because so and so wants to bring his girlfriend who doesn’t get along with someone else who’s invited. Lord help you if there’s a vegetarian in the group because they’ll complain that there’s nothing Vegetarian friendly on the menu. I just miss the simplicity of childhood sometimes!
Anyway, I’m really blessed this birthday. Thanks for everyone’s encouragement in this process too!
Happy April Fool’s Day and may the odds be ever in your favor today! With my troll of a sister, the odds most certainly are not in my favor. She looked at the calendar earlier and realized it was April 1st and she says “Oh my! I have to get to work!” She loves to pull pranks or do otherwise annoying things.
Besides April Fool’s, there’s one other event that we should be celebrating and that day is April 19th- the day Lilly for Target is finally available for purchase! I’m so excited about this collaboration. The look book on Target’s website is everything I could have hoped for and more! Is it sad that I’ve been putting aside money for this event? Anyway, here’s what you’ll find in my shopping bag when the line comes out!
Happy Monday loves. I hope wherever you are the weather is starting to feel spring-like. I adore this season when it begins to warm up and the buds on the trees begin to show. Hearing the frogs out in the woods making noises and the birds chirping reminds me that the earth is ready to come back to life after having been asleep for so many months.
Part of me becomes so inspired this time of the year while the other part just wants the allergies to subside. There’s nothing I’d love more than to sit outside in a flowing sundress with the sun in my hair, tanning my skin while I sip a smoothie and enjoy the latest issue of Vogue. Spring brings me out of hibernation. I’m sure many of you know how I feel!
I was browsing through Pinterest and came across these images that just highlighted how lovely this time of the year is. Check my pin feed to see what else I’ve been pinning! I’m loving lots of flowers right now. Design hint: A simple vase with brightly colored flowers adds warmth to your home!
Vibrant colors wake me up on Monday’s (and coffee) so my sincerest hope is that these pictures had the same effect on you. Go to my pin feed linked above and scroll down to see the original pins and where they came from. Enjoy.
I think most of us have recently fallen in love with Cinderella again. The movie, though I haven’t seen it, looks spectacular! An updated classic, if done correctly, can be so beautiful. I’m hoping that this movie is everything I think it will be! The trailer looked incredible, especially when Cinderella is dancing with the prince and she comments that everyone is staring at him to which he replies, “No, believe me, they’re all looking at you.” How romantic and sweet is that? I just can’t get over it. #Swoon
Speaking of Cinderella, have you seen Lauren Conrad’s collection for Kohl’s? I can’t get over how gorgeous everything is! I stopped in the other day to get a better look and fell in love with pretty much everything. The fastest way to my heart is through a tulle skirt and lots of sparkles.
Another collection I’m loving is the MAC Cinderella line. The eye shadow palette has sold out online! I’m headed to the my nearest Sephora next week to see if they have any. I know I’m on a no shopping diet (Lent), but I really want to see this beautiful palette in person. I would love to try on the lipsticks as well. These people cut right to my heart with the pretty things they sell!
Let me know what Cinderella inspired things you’re loving right now!
Happy Saturday dear friends! I’m a little late on today’s post but I’ve had a busy, hectic day. It started out by waking up a little later than I wanted. After I finally got out the door, I was driving along jamming to my music, and then I see this dark car about 400 feet ahead of me. I slowed down to get a better look and realized it was a police car. Just as I figured this out, the police officer pops out of his door and points at me to pull over. Busted. I had been speeding. The officer came over, tipped his hat, and said “I pulled you over because you were speeding.” I just looked at him and said “Guilty” as I retrieved my license and registration. Luckily, he was nice (and handsome) so he knocked down my speeding charges for me. I think he did so because I didn’t fuss with him and he’s probably sick of that.
Anyway, my day went as planned thankfully. I got to the gym and pounded the pavement (aka treadmill) and worked off my stress. Now I’m just sitting at the kitchen bar writing for you. I was so inspired last night by these cute little accessories for an apartment or small home. They make a big statement for smaller spaces.
I absolutely love a little tray table like the one above for either a nightstand of sorts or a bar cart styled piece for the living room. I don’t know many people who have room for an entire bar cart in their home. They’re rather large and bulky.
Inspired by my Restoration Hardware addiction, I saw that chandelier and fell in love. Sadly, it happens to be $3k but I might take it upon myself to raid antique stores or even warehouse sales to find a similar one for much cheaper. Chandeliers are great because they make a big statement without taking up any floor space.
As always, I love fresh blooms in every room of the house. They add life and color and don’t have to be expensive. I bought some from the grocery store for $5 and they’re gorgeous! It’s even better if their “fluffy” flowers like hydrangeas because they appear fuller.
In the foyer of any home, I really love having a little table where you can place your keys and mail if necessary. I did a post on this a few months back. The ideal foyer is not all that complicated or expensive!
Hope you enjoyed this bit of inspiration today! Life is beautiful, design your space around that.
